Tomorrow, written language will disappear. How and why is not important, it just happens. What will happen to our world?
How will the world react to this chance? Will society be able to adapt? All writing will get replaced by spoken language. Main communication will be speech and the human voice becomes most important. How will documenting work? Recordings will do the job. Storybooks, way-finding and even advertising will be based on sound and the spoken word. Playing recorded stories, ads shouting out and street signs literary telling you which way to go; the world becomes terribly noisy.
The range of pitches in sound, melody, rhythm and tone of voice will be used to communicate specific information. Human hearing will adapt and develops it’s sensitivity for vibrations of sound.

At one point, noisiness will become to much. The world reacts once again, this time eliminating noise. New technologies and systems will let the world shift from extreme noise to extreme silence.

Finding your way through the city becomes highly complicated when street names disappear. Navigation and getting information on the streets will have to become clear and understandable without the use of text. Because of this, city navigation will be redesigned, in which light, sound, colour and visuals will play an important role.

Brands will invest in sound to be noticed. Over time the human sensitivity to vibration will evolve. Touch becomes a new way of communicating.
The user will internally hear information when touching a product. At this stage, brands will distinguish themselves by use of light.

Language will also change. A world without writing will loose the fixed rules for its language. No rules to hold on, so everything is right. Borders fade, words will be made up, grammar added, origin is lost and languages will blend into each other. Accents and dialects are stimulated as the word is taught auditory only. The worlds one language will know many variations.
To understand the variations, a dictionary or translations system is needed.

Contemporary documenting methods, such as making a note, keeping a journal and even writing a newspaper article will be missing. Important speeches, a beautiful recited story, or even your own happy thought will have to be recorded. These recordings need to be saved, organised and searchable in a new device(, a so called "Voicebox").
As speech becomes important, voice becomes are very powerful tool. Strong writers without a great speech are nowhere.
Research has already shown that telling a lie is much easier when speaking than when writing. Therefor it becomes very important to notice when a lie is being told and aforementioned device will have a lie-detecting option.
Voice will define who you are and what you can achieve and so, voices will be copyrighted. But how do we know when a copyrighted voice is being used?

All together, much is going to change and adapting to this change will bring along new systems and devices. As time passed by, the world keeps evolving and these systems and devices with it. To preview these changes, a person’s regular morning will be documented in the form of short film. This morning will be shown twice, offering a preview of both extremes of this world without written language.
